I was honoured to introduce Mr Speaker,

The Right Honourable John Bercow and as I prefer not to use my gavel one of my colleagues did the honours with his bell.

The English Toastmasters Association are proud to have formed our own

English Toastmasters at Westminster for St. George's Day

The Speaker of the House of Commons chairs the debates in the Commons Chamber.

The holder of this office is an MP who has been elected by other MPs and is the chief officer and highest authority of the House of Commons.

He must remain politically impartial at all times and during debates the Speaker keeps order and calls MPs to speak.

The Speaker also represents the Commons to the Monarch, the Lords and other authorities and chairs the House of Commons Commission.

The current Speaker ( 23rd April 2013 ) is the Rt. Hon. John Bercow, MP for Buckingham.
